How We Started
The Murrysville Historical Preservation Society, Inc. was formed in April 1987 (chartered November 17, 1987) by Roger T. Reiner, Jackie Wimer, Joan Kearns, Sandy Friesell, and Eric Rodgers. Our founders fought to prevent the demolition of the stately, 170-year old, Bossart House in the Murrysville Town Square. This new society made it their mission to educate the Murrysville area residents about their rich history.

Open Houses at Hoey/Staymates Cabin & Barn – Free Events – Spring Open House in April, Lantern Tour in October and Christmas at the Cabin the Saturday before Thanksgiving 2025 Dates: Spring Open House April 26, 1-4 pm. Lantern Tour October 18, 6pm 7pm, & 8pm. Reservations Required. Christmas at the Cabin November 22, 1-4pm
Fall Festival- Historic Homesteading Day – September 13, 11am to 4pm at the Sampson/Clark Homestead, parking on Triangle Lane, shuttle available
Homeschool Programs- Small group sessions for Homeschool field trips. Contact us to set up a homeschool trip!
